| These Terms and Conditions govern the
use of Online service with your One account. |
| |
| In these conditions, you
are the customer who has signed and returned an Offer
to open an Account and We
are The Royal Bank of Scotland plc. If you have a joint account,
references in these conditions to 'you' include both of you,
together and separately. The following paragraphs should be
read in conjunction with the existing One account Conditions.
We may vary these Conditions from time to time and we will advise
you of any changes. |
| |
Authority |
- You authorise us to accept and act on
electronic instructions and to pay to and from your Account
the amounts involved when the transaction has been authenticated
by the use of the security procedure we require.
- If you have a joint Account, we will act
on the instructions of either of you, but you are each responsible
for all transactions carried out using Online service and
for repayment of any borrowing which arises on your Account.
|
Security procedure |
- You will be provided with a Global Key
Code (this will be on a card sent to you by post) for use
in accessing Online service.
- Each time you access Online service you
will use your Global
Key Code together with your security password
and passcode
(these are the same password and passcode you use for the
Telephone Banking service). We will only accept instructions
if your Global Key Code, password and passcode are used
as requested by our security system.
- You must keep your password and passcode
secret.
- You must take all reasonable precautions
to prevent fraudulent misuse of your password and passcode.
- You must never write down or record on
any device your password and passcode in any way which could
be accessed and understood by someone else.
- If you have kept your password and passcode
secret, you will not be liable for any transaction on your
Account which you have not authorised. If you suspect someone
knows your password or passcode, you must telephone us immediately
on 08453 01 01 01. If you
fail to do so, you will be liable for any unauthorised transactions
on your Account.
- You will be responsible for all instructions
received by us between the time access to your Account is
permitted, by the security procedure being completed successfully,
and the time the Online service session is ended. Please
note that this includes any input errors or instructions
sent by someone other than yourself so please do not leave
your computer unattended while you are logged on to our
site.
|
Transactions |
- Instructions received by 5pm on any banking
day will normally be processed that day. Instructions received
at any other time will be processed the next banking day.
- Provision of Online service will not give
you any right to make withdrawals beyond your Facility.
|
Creating plans |
- Our online service provides a tool to
enable you to create plans to help you manage your finances.
These plans are only notional allocation of your Facility
and we indicate them by the prefix'e-' (e.g. your "e-mortgage").
They do not mean that separate accounts have been created.
Any savings balances shown in a plan are not deposits with
us but are an indication that you have not spent the whole
of your facility. And of course, 'e-transfers' to your plans
are not actual transfers of funds from your Account.
- Whenever you create a plan using our online
service, you will always be told the actual balance on your
Account, which will be the aggregate of the plans you create.
|
Availability of the service |
- While we will make reasonable efforts
to provide Online service, we will not be liable for any
failure to provide the service for any cause that is beyond
our reasonable control. If for any reason the service is
unavailable you should use the Telephone Banking service
instead.
- We may, where we consider it appropriate
for your or our protection, suspend, withdraw or restrict
the use of Online service. We will tell you as soon as practicable
if we take such action.
|
Governing law and changes to the conditions
|
- If the Property mortgaged to us is in
England or Wales, English law applies to these Conditions;
and if that Property is in Scotland, Scots law applies.
- We may vary these Conditions from time-to-time
and we will write to you to give you at least 30 days notice
of any change.
- We subscribe to the Banking Code and apply
this code to all our dealings with you. Any changes that
we make to these conditions will be in accordance with this
code. Copies of the Banking Code are available on request.
